Our cans are rinsed out with a cleaning fluid after they are manufactured which does have a fuel-like scent to it. We can confirm that this is normal and does no harm to the can or the fuel that is then put inside.

No. The coloured steel cans are lined with a rezinol lining inside and are suitable for fuel only, not water.

Our Wavian branded cans are top quality fuel cans. They are made to the highest standards to last a lifetime.       it was too thick to fit into the spout and then clamp to the can hole. I glued it to a block of wood and using a belt sanding machine ground it down by about 1mm . Then I was able to fit it. I suspect that my jerry can was older than expected and they have now changed the thickness ( the original had split completely across the washer and hence leaked.) It was clearly thinner to begin with. So I needed a thinner washer but this, I assume, is no longer available. I was able to re-engineer the washer and so get it to fit.

      Nothing wrong with the seals or delivery etc.

      BUT I put new seals in both Jerry cans and the lids still don’t seal, no damage to the necks or lids.
      It’s as if there’s not enough pressure pushing down on the front part of the neck.
      None of the other makes of Jerry can I’ve got have this problem.

      I would give 5 stars for service but have downgraded because the original seals fitted to my Wavian Jerry cans and pouring spout deteriorated in about 3 years. My other ( army surplus ) Jerry cans have seals that have lasted for many more years.
